Becoming BB

As a child, I remember looking down at the dark patches in the creases of my arms, inflamed and irritated, wondering if I'd ever find relief for my eczema. I'd eventually end my bout with eczema but find myself face-to-face with acne as a young adult. Reflecting on my journey, I realize I spent most of my life battling my skin.
My father, who I revere as a natural healer, was the guy who had a tea or remedy for any ailment. He'd sit me in baths filled with oatmeal and rub my itchy arms with homemade balms that smelled of dirt. He stressed the importance of health, exposing me to a plant-based diet and the power of wood root tonic at a young age. And though it was all strange, I endured the clumpy baths and sprout sandwiches because my "crazy" dad cured my eczema.
With eczema behind me, my skin went from bad to worse when I developed acne at 16. A light went off after years of dermatologist visits, prescription medicines, inconsistent skin regimes, and poor dieting. I decided to tap into my healer lineage and embark on the journey to healthy, acne-free skin. I changed my diet, tossed the fragrance soaps and expensive moisturizers and made my own. After extensive time, consistency, and research, I found a winning combination of essential oils and herbs that led to my skin's breakthrough.
At 30, the peak of my flourishing skin, the pandemic struck. Like many of us, I could no longer go out to enjoy monthly maintenance services: waxing, facials, manicures/pedicures, etc. Left to my own device, I decided to maintain my bikini waxes- a huge mistake!
The ingrown hair bumps from self-waxing resembled something of a Crunch candy bar! Determined to get back on track to smooth skin, I found myself tapping into that healer spirit again. I whipped up what is now known as Purefect Polish- an exfoliant that single-handedly saved my skin during the pandemic.
I gifted samples of Purefect Polish to friends and family as a self-care tool in our time of isolation. Initially, I only shared Purefect Polish with the women in my community to add to their feminine care routines. However, my male best friend decided to borrow his partners' polish one day and thought, "well, if it works down there, it should work on my face." And alas, Purefect Polish morphed into a gender-friendly exfoliant. After weekly demands and overwhelming feedback, I began selling Purefect Polish and later created Seal-it Serum.
Although officially birthed on Aug 20,2020, Booming Bloom's origin began 25 years ago. From my first oatmeal bath in North Carolina to the blending of oils in my tiny Brooklyn kitchen, the divination of healing was chosen long before I accepted its calling. I understand that my time as my father's understudy and the trials of treating my skin served as a prerequisite in my efforts to help others.
I am honored to share Booming Bloom with you. I appreciate your support! May BB heal, nourish, and soothe you.
